Our aim at Hamilton Therapy Centre is to provide a professional, confidential and safe environment where you can meet with your counsellor to address the issues you bring.

We pride ourselves on having excellent practice procedures. Any queries can be directed to our Practice Manager, Claire Jones. As part of maintaining our high standards, all our counsellors have regular supervision.

Counsellors
Wally McKenzie MSocSci (Psych), MNZAC
Wally has been a counsellor since 1985, with over 20 years in private practice. He works with children, adults, couples and families, provides training in the community and supervision. He is  a visiting lecturer in the ‘Masters in Counselling’ programme at Waikato University and also lectured previously at Unitech in Auckland.

Ineke Castina BSocSci (Psych), PostGrad DipCouns, MNZAC
Ineke enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds; she uses a ‘narrative’ client-centred approach which asserts that people are the experts on their own lives. She works with people – individually, with couples, and with families. Ineke has an interest in working with immigrant families, especially from non-English speaking countries.
Ineke has taught in the counselling programme at WINTEC, but now concentrates on her private practice; she has an extensive background in working with people who have been sexually abused, and does not have a surcharge for ACC counselling.
Ineke works with gay men and lesbian women; she is contracted by the NZ AIDS Foundation to do Rapid HIV testing.
Ineke is an approved EAP counsellor; her work also involves supervision for counsellors and people in related fields. Ineke is on the Membership Committee of NZAC and also part of the NZAC Assessment Team. She is registered with ACC as a sexual abuse counsellor and with the Family Court as a relationship counsellor.

Elizabeth Brown DipTchg, BEd, PostGrad DipCouns, MNZAC
Elizabeth is passionate about supporting people to have the quality of life they want for themselves. Elizabeth works competently with a wide range of issues such as relationship counselling, grief, workplace relationships, anxiety, depression, abuse, suicide ideation, family/whanau issues and more.
Her professional qualifications include a Diploma in Teaching, a Degree in Education and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Elizabeth has worked in community agencies, school and university counselling, EAP programmes, private practice and voluntary organisations. Elizabeth’s personal ‘qualifications’ include experiences as a mother, wife, business woman, retailer, teacher, women’s refuge advocate and group facilitator.

Barbara Dromgool MCouns, BSocSci (Hon) Psych, MNZAC
Barbara works collaboratively with clients using a creative, dynamic approach aimed to provide possibilities for change. When she is not working or involved with her large extended family; Barbara retreats to the tranquility of the forest, bush and lake areas of the South Waikato region.
Barbara’s qualifications include degrees in counselling and psychology.
She is experienced in working with individuals, couples and families struggling with grief, relationships, trauma/sexual abuse, faith, addictions, and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and stress. Barbara is approved as a counsellor by Family Court, ACC, EAP and the Cancer Society. She also provides supervision for counsellors and to other professionals.

Carole Garratt DipCouns, BAppSocSci (Couns), MNZAC
Carole sees counselling as a unique time and place for clients to be really heard, encouraged and supported. Her role is to listen with respect, seeking to understand and helping the client to clarify their situation, issues and goals. She believes that change is possible and works with clients to achieve the goals they desire. Carole has experience counselling in : relationships – for individuals, couples and work situations; anxiety; depression; grief and loss; mid-life challenges and opportunities; addictions; issues of faith; coping with change.
Her life experience includes being a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, teacher and business woman. Her training includes : Diploma in Counselling, Bachelor of Applied Social Science (endorsed in Counselling) and further Alcohol and Other Drug studies. Carole is a Member of NZAC and NZCCA, adhering to their Code of Ethics and having regular professional supervision.

Administration
Claire Jones
Practice Manager
Claire is responsible for the overall running of the practice and is happy to assist you in any way she can. As well as running the office, Claire is an accredited Critical Incident Responder and Money Coach. She is very involved with Narrows Park, a local camping facility that focuses on youth ministry. She has a background in accountancy, has worked as a youth worker, helped set up small business ventures and enjoys contact with people.

Lyn Wheki Admin Assistant
Lyn assists Claire in the office. She can milk cows and goats, put up a fence, drive a tractor, motorbike, car and a truck, has knowledge in herd testing, exporting goats. and other farming things. Lyn has also done horticulture work : budding, grafting, thinning, export packing and most things on a hor block. She will do her best to help you in any way she can, but please be patient when she has to use the computer!

Casual Users
From time to time we have other people use our rooms on a casual basis. Our minimum requirements for those wanting to use our rooms are that they :

>>>>are full members of NZAC (or equivalent) and abide by their ethics
